De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis

This fancy term describes a painful inflammatory condition of the wrist involving tendons of the thumb. These tendons overlie the wrist and can become inflamed with many things including repetitive use, gripping, gardening, knitting, or holding a child in your arms.
Treatment for this condition can include taping and bracing, advice on avoiding aggravating movements, manual therapy and stretching and strengthening exercises.
